How it works

Compress in three steps

  1. 1

    Drop your site’s images in.

  2. 2

Graviton resizes them to 1920 pixels and converts them to WebP.

  3. 3

Download them as a ZIP with the original file names, ready to upload.

Why image size matters for SEO

Images are usually the heaviest part of a page. Smaller images improve Largest Contentful Paint, one of the Core Web Vitals Google uses for ranking, and they cut bounce rates on mobile data.

WebP or AVIF?

WebP is supported by every modern browser and encodes quickly. AVIF is often 20–30% smaller again, so switch the format to AVIF if your site or CDN serves it.

Frequently asked questions

What width should website images be?

1920 pixels covers full-width images on most screens. Thumbnails and content images can be 800–1200 pixels.

Are my images uploaded?

No. Graviton converts and compresses inside your browser, so your images never leave your device. Nothing is sent while you compress. When you download, the browser sends only a one-way fingerprint of the image, so the download can be counted and approved. Graviton stores none of it.

Does it keep my file names?

Yes. Each file keeps its name with the new extension, so you can replace images on your site without renaming them.

Is it free?

Yes. Compressing and converting are free and unlimited, with no account needed. Downloading needs a free account, which includes 3 downloads a day with every format and setting. Pro removes the daily limit.
