Crop keeps part of the picture; resize scales all of it

Cropping cuts away the edges you don’t want and can change the picture’s shape, while the part you keep stays at full resolution. Resizing changes how many pixels the whole picture has. Turn on Resize after cropping when you also need a set width and height: it scales the cropped picture.

Shapes for posts, screens and prints

Square suits profile pictures and grid posts, 4:5 an Instagram portrait post, 9:16 stories and reels, 16:9 slides, video thumbnails and widescreens, and 3:2 or 4:3 prints. Free crops to any shape, and Original keeps the photo’s own shape while you trim it.

Crop a whole batch

With several images, turn on Crop in the settings and pick a shape and the part to keep, such as the middle or the top, and every image is cut to it. Open any image in the list to crop it exactly.

Frequently asked questions

Does cropping lower the quality?

The part you keep stays at full resolution; nothing is scaled unless you turn on Resize. The image is saved once, at quality 90 by default, which looks the same as the original at normal viewing size. Choose a higher quality, or PNG, in the settings for even less change.

Can I crop to an exact size in pixels?

Yes. Pick a size under Resize, such as Instagram (1080 × 1350) or Full HD: it crops to that shape for you and comes out at exactly that size. Or crop first, then turn on Resize and type a width and height.

Can I use the keyboard?

Yes. The arrow keys move the frame, Shift with an arrow moves it further, plus and minus resize it, and Enter or Escape finishes.

Are my images uploaded?

No. Graviton converts and compresses inside your browser, so your images never leave your device. Nothing is sent while you compress. When you download, the browser sends only a one-way fingerprint of the image, so the download can be counted and approved. Graviton stores none of it.

Is it free?

Yes. Compressing and converting are free and unlimited, with no account needed. Downloading needs a free account, which includes 3 downloads a day with every format and setting. Pro removes the daily limit.
